Hard Candy

Hard Candy, released in 2000 by classic gay porn studio All Worlds Video, promised a tantalizing mix of sweet treats and tantalizing men. However, the film left me feeling more like I had consumed a disappointing vanilla cotton candy instead of a rich, decadent dessert. Director Dan Cross employed the "bullet" technique, with each of the four stories tied to Hard Candy featuring long scenes, each with their own title. While the candy theme provided a playful backdrop, the actual incorporation of the treats into the scenes was minimal, leaving me to wonder why Cross didn't take full advantage of the opportunity to create a more immersive experience. The cast was predominantly made up of post-pubescent men, who were attractive but not fully matured. There were some highlights, such as Sandy Sloane's 10-foot load in "Sour Balls," and Anthony Cox's impressive erection in "Licorice." However, these moments were not enough to save the film from its overall lack of substance. With a cute cast and a clever theme, Hard Candy had the potential to be a delightful addition to the gay porn genre. Unfortunately, the film fell short of its promise, leaving viewers with a sugar headache rather than a satisfying climax.
